Connect to SQL database !

enwru Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Dear All ! I have a problem with SQL Server SP3 (WinCC) ! I have connected successfully to database in pubs (Table 'authors') by WinCC and I can Insert , delete , update , ... all the fields in that table from WinCC (using VBS), but when I create new table in pubs databse . I can not connect to it (my new table) ! Why ? What should I need to connect my new databse with WinCC ? Please help me ! Thanks !

Salma Gold Member Joined: 9/27/2005 Last visit: 11/27/2007 Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	This sounds like an SQLServer security issue. All objects in SQLServer are given permissions. When you createa new table you need to ensure you set the correct permissions too. My guess is that the user you are using to connect from WinCC has not been granted SELECT permission on your table. You can check this easily in Enterprise Manager / SQL Management Studio (depending on your version). Please refer to the Books Online for more information on setting permissions. Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQLServer -> Books Online Salma

My application is simple that I want to writeProcess Tag toSQL database from WinCC and Viewit in WinCCand do what I want with them . What should I do ?

enwru Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Thanks all ! I have visit website www.WinCC.net. and donwload 1 example that they use VBS to connect to SQL server . You can download "Database Querying from WinCC" (file name DB_Manipulation.zip). I have read it and it Run Ok , the table they use is "authors" table in SQL Server 2000 SP3 ( for WinCC), but when I create new table and apply project above to my new table , it can not Run .Why ? Thanks again !

First please read Microsoft EULA regarding how MSSQL 2000 ("Developer Edition" and "Runtime - Restricted")islicensed with WinCC v6.0: Section 1 paragraph h h: Runtime – Restricted Use Software.... The Product (MSSQL - Dec) may not be used either to develop and/or in conjunction with new applications, databases or tables other than those contained in the Integrated Application (WinCC - Dec). The foregoing provision, however, does not prohibit you from using a tool to run queries or reports from existing tables, and/or from using a development environment (User Archive Editor - Dec) or workbench which is part of the Integrated Application to configure or extend such Integrated Application. ... Now I am asking you why you can't use User Archives tables to configure/store/manipulate your process tags archives "and do what I want with them "?You don't need any WinCC CAL or Connectivity Pack license if you query UA tables from Integrated Application (WinCC Graphic-RT, VBS or C-Script) or from Excel, Access etc as long as you are on that PC where WinCC UAis running.
