Please check the LINK HERE. MPI will support 31 nodes but length is limited to 50 meter. PC's must have a CP card [like CP 5612]. |

Hello sajjad; MPI is a subset of Profibus networks, and uses the same RS-485 cabling infrastructure, daisy-chaining the elements of a network. RS-485 cable (shilded twisted-pair) and sub-D 9-pin connectors are easy and cheap to locate (connect pins 3-5-8 on each connector), and termination resistance can be implemented with a bit of thought. But generally we prefer using Profibus connectors and cables, a bit more expensive but all elements are certified (so they will work as expected without a problem) and termination circuits are already built-in. See the attachment for an illustration, and this list of Profibus connectors part numbers (from Siemens; there are many manufacturers offering similar connectors, such as HelmHoltz, ABB, Phoenix Contacts...). Where can you find information on the dimensions of PROFIBUS connectors and where can you find dimensioned drawings of the PROFIBUS connectors? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/fr/en/view/19425126 Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
