Connecting photielectric sensor to S7-1200

Hi,

Simple question: how to connect photelecric sensor to S7-1200.

I have connected Omron E3Z-D81 (seems PNP-output according to the product sheet) to the following connections: brown cable to 24VDC L+, black cable to input nr0 and blue cable to 24VDC M. The leds of sensor are working, the led blinks when sensor activated. But the simple program

IF "Foto" = 1 THEN
"u" := 1;

// Statement section IF
;
END_IF;

does not give any change of value when monitored.

It seems that I have not made proper cabling, that the controller does not see the sensor.

I have s7-1200 1212C AC/DC/Relay

It is a good isea to check the input voltage:

Logic 1 signal (min.) 15 VDC at 2.5 mA

Logic 0 signal (max.) 5 VDC at 1 mA

ProbablyI willneed to install a load (resistor) as indicated before.Theproduct technical doc pg A-59 is mentioning load (for relay). Also on A-62 is written "Do not connect the power supply to the sensor with no load connected..."

So the resisitor is needed probably, I´ll check the voltage first.

Or do I use also M1 digital input on the controller. I see from the sytem manual S7-1200.

It seems than I needed to short circuit M and 1M of digital input. I took the example from the simulator module attached with S7-1200 starter kit, where also M and 1M are short circuited. Now thecontroller understands sensor both with or withoyut relay (load).Please comment.
