Connecting S7-1200 to TIA v11

AvALon Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I got a problem with connecting the S7-1200 CPU 1214C AC/DC/Relay FW v3.0.2 to TIA v11. The program says, it's "Not compatible". Does TIA v11 already support this Firmware? SP2 Update 5 is already installed, also the newest Hardware Support Packages (HSP0028). Have you got any solutions?

I tried it, but it didn't work. huggy_d1 Did you also install HSP0026? #26 added supported for FW 3.x s7-1200 devices. Already did it. Still the same.. EDIT: So now i put the Firmware of the S7-1200 to v2.2 and it's working. I will let it like it is. Nevertheless thanks for your help!

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 3/20/2025 Posts: 15739 Rating: (2489)	Check the part # on your PLC. Check the firmware level while online and see if it is 2.2 or 3.x. The part # is different for FW 2.x and FW 3.x PLCs.

Am I correct in thinking that if the firmware is replaced with v2.2 then it works? If so, how can I change the firmware from my v3.0.2 to v2.2? I have spent days trying to get the CPU and TIA Portal v11 SP2 with update 5 and all the HSPs (0026, 0028 etc) installed. No matter what I do I still get the same problem as above, the 'Not compatible' message? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first S7-1200 project and it's a bit of a disaster for me at the moment! Thanks.

I can't rest to factory settings as I can't go online to the CPU. I've tried the PST tool, and this won't do it either. It seems like everything works OK and the communications are OK until the 'Go Online' option is selected and then it just reports that it's incompatible. It seems to be talking over the network OK (or at least that's how it appears) but it refuses to go 'Online' I'm al a loss as to what I'm doing wrong?

To get you going quickly, I strongly suggest submitting a Support Request(see the Contact -> Support Requestoption in the upper right of these forums). The support people have helped me with connection problems in the past. Be sure to ask questions about anything you do not fully understand. They are much better at explaining this issue than I am. If the PLC is powered up, are the network LEDs showing connection? Is the plc showing no maintenance errors? There are so many questions when you are trying to connect the very first time.

I found this thread but was disappointed there was no solution but to downgrade the firmware. This was my first installation of a brand new processor in over 12 months. I made no progress trying to detect and connect to the PLC as I had successfully done with earlier firmware. I eventually managed to connect and program the PLC F/W 3.0.2 with TIA v11 SP2 update 5 and HSP 33. I did so by creating the hardware configuration OFFLINE and downloading it to the PLC on it's own. (Without any software.) Once the configuration was downloaded the PLC worked as advertised. And it will detect in a blank project in the usual manner. For whatever reason it will not do this out of the box until you tell it it's a V3.0 then it's happy to play the game Hope posting this solution saves the next victim some time. Quokka
