Connection CPU313-2DP with a PC

FDAG Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hi, I would like, if possible, to connect the PLC CPU313-2DP with a personal computer. The intention is to send / transmit data from and to the PLC. This can be status of Input output terminals, or Datablock contents etc... I found a lot of literature about this. But i can not figure out the way to go. Is it possible, to point me in the right direction, in choice of PC interface boards to use to accomplish this task. Tanks for your advice, Best Regards

If you just need a Interface for simple Monitoring , I would suggest a OP or MP Panelwith WINCC Flexible . If you need theto store the Data, forexempal for Trending to be beused at a later point , thereis allredySoftware avaliable . ( Siemens IT Manager / Historian/ Visual Plant .......) If you would like to develop you own Application inf VB or ...., youcoulduse a OPC Sever installed on your PC that communicates with Siemens Softnet via a CP5511 / 5512 or 5611. if your PC is local to the PLC . If not you have to install a Communications Processor on the PLC Side and then you can again use SoftNet to and the OPC Server to get Data from the PLC. From here you can useWindows Application to communicate or throug C Library C/C++ .... I know it sounds confiusing . m.f.g

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I agree, the best solution would be to use SOFTNET S7 with S7 Communication with PROFIBUS to the PLC. The huge advantage is that you do not have to do anything on PLC side. Everything is being done on PC side and you have full access to the complete PLC... all I/Os, all DBs and the complete Memory area. Best regards J_Bell

FDAG Posts: 8 Rating: (1)	Hi, On PC Side - Ineed a profibus communication board For example CP-5611-A2 - Software wise we need the Softnet-S7 Package. Is this he same has Simatic-net ? What is de package name i have o order to get started on the PC? On PLC side I have to configure the Profibus network, to include the profibus connection on the PG/PC. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, you are absolutely right. You would need a CP 5611, as PCI Card for the PC, and the Software SOFTNET S7 for PROFIBUS (MLFB: 6GK1704-5CW70-3AA0) That way you can configure S7 Connections you need to connect to the S7-300 PLC. Best regards J_Bell
