Hello SIOS Forum Community, We keep receiving questions regarding the connection of a programming device e.g. Siemens Field PG M5 without TTY interface to a SIMATIC S5. Why is the cable needed? The PLC (automation device) interface of SIEMENS S5 controllers has a serial TTY interface for communication with the programming device. If there is only a V.24 interface on the programming device and no TTY interface, a converter must be interposed which converts the voltage level of the V.24 interface into a 20 mA current level - and vice versa. Under the order number 6ES5734-1BD20 with the designation: SIMATIC S5, plug-in cable 734-1 from PLC 15-pole to PG/PC 25-pole 3.2m the product was available for order. This product has been cancelled without replacement as of 01.10.2020. Siemens does not have a successor for this product. End of the product life cycle of the SIMATIC S5 Furthermore, there are numerous ready-made offers and solutions on the market. We would be happy if you share your experiences with them with the community in this thread. Best regards, SIMATIC International Technical Support Hub. |
