Hello rajkiran; There are 2 types of IM you can use in a S7-300 configuration for extended racks: - IM 365 comes as a pair of Send/Recieve modules connected by a 1m cable for expansion of a single rack, with restrictions on the type of modules that can be placed in the remote rack (no CPs, no FMs); - a IM 380/IM 361 pair that can be used to up to 3 remote racks with various lengths of dedicated cable. Both these IM are described in chapter 8 of the following manual: S7-300 Automation System Module Data How did you try to setup these IM in your HWConfig editor? Both racks (central and remote) must exist in the configuration before you insert an IM. Let's say you need only an IM 365 pair: once both racks have been inserted in the configuration, simply select the IM 365 from your hardware catalog and drag it to slot number 3 of the main rack (slot no. 3 is completely reserved for IMs). The pair of IM 365 should appear in slot 3 of the central and remote racks with a line connecting them (representing the 386 cable physically present in the real units). Simply fill in your CPU andthe I/O modules you needto finish the configuration. Then as usual, save, compile and download to the CPU. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |

Hello, Yes you can use the MPI port to communicate with HMI. And yes you can use a profibus cable to connect HMI. if you use a PB CONNECTOR, 90 DEGREE, WITH PG SOCKETyou don't have to disconnect the HMI when programming or monitoring the CPU. Regards, Marcjan |
