Hi,
working on project in TIA v13 with multiple HMIs and PLC I have found two types of connections of HMI to multiple PLCs. It's probably because of multiple programmers working on project too.

I understand that for one connection type the tags are represented by address of tag in PLC. This connection type was used before HMIs project was merged with PLCs project.

For other connection type the tags are represented by PLC tag directly. Obviously you cannot use this connection if HMIs and PLCs are not in same project.

I have not succeeded in searching for difference or implications for these two connection types.

• Non-integrated connections

and two kinds of addressing external tags:

• by address
• by name (=symbolic)
