we are using TIA Portal V12 - i bring this up because because it says TIA Portal V13 or later is required for programming but i do not know if that is true or a sales gimmick.

i am just trying to download the program to the device.

Here is my current situation

In the project tree on the left under the online access folder->ethernet card-> i see the cpu and i can change its IP address and PROFINET name... so i have connectivity there.

when i click the load project button a new screen pops, and ot shows the 2 and i can manually enter the CPU device IP address and it finds it and connects and i can flash the LED.

However, when i try and go online i can no longer find the CPU. is there some thing i have to do in order to have it retain the memory of the CPU?

I am super new to Siemens PLC so anything even though it may be small may be a big thing for me
