Control one hydromotor with two different pumps

DavidBrown Gold Member Joined: 6/29/2012 Last visit: 12/25/2023 Posts: 975 Rating: (9)	I have an axis that consists of a hydromotor that can be driven by a variabele displacement pump, or by a proportional valve fed by constant pressure pump. Is one or the other, never the two at the same time. The hydromotor has a singleturn absolute encoder. Should I create two different axes in Simotion (because my setpoints are two different analog outputs)? I suppose one axis, with two axis data sets won't solve the problem because the analog output for setpoint can't be selected with an axis data set? If I use two axes, and I only start one (for instance with variabele desplacement pump), won't that cause problems on the 'not started axis' because the encoder is turing? If I use two axes, would it be a good idea to give commands to a virtual axis, and have the selected real axis geared to that virtural axis?

I guess you better create 2 separate axes with a duplicator of encoder signal (I can be more accurate next week as soon as I turn back office) >Is one or the other, never the two at the same time. This must be mandatory because the axes not engage standing in open loop mode and don't control the position _enableQFAxis( axis:=TOAxes ,controlMode:=INACTIVE etc etc pigroplc

Towards the enabling you give the example of the enable command with parameter 'Not acitve', is it the intention to give an enable command to both axes, but one of them with the parameter 'not active' and the other with 'active'?

I use to define a FB with parameter due to call the same function as much as the machine is configured. This means that you have a double call of the FB and the bool enable parameter is always opposite as status between the 2 axis. It means one is NOT_ACTIVE and the other is ACTIVE. pigroplc
