Conversion of Bit To Other type like string etc.

Johannes4u Posts: 122 Rating: (1)	Hello Experts, I would like to make a convertion of Bit to String or Byte fomat in TIA portal V13. I do not see any option or could not locate. Can any one give me the information if you know and if possible. Looking forard to hear your response. I here with attach you snap shot with regard to my question. smiffy Platinum Expert Joined: 1/17/2007 Last visit: 12/5/2024 Posts: 1548 Rating: (538)	Bit (BOOL) to byte can be achived using the BOOL_TO_BYTE conversion instruction:- aByte := BOOL_TO_BYTE(aByte); Bit (BOOL) to string is an odd thing to want to do but you could achieve it by going BOOL->BYTE->CHAR->STRING using the BOOL_TO_BYTE, BYTE_TO_CHAR & CHAR_TO_STRING conversion instructions:- aString := CHAR_TO_STRING(BYTE_TO_CHAR(BOOL_TO_BYTE(aBool))); I hope this is of help.

Johannes4u Posts: 122 Rating: (1)	Hello Smiffy, Thank you for your response. Is it possible to have that conversion in LAD. Because I have choosen the language as LAD. And I do not see that option when I choose LAD. Is it possible to mix the language in OB in case If I want to use SCL between the LAD. Looking forward to hear your response. With regards Johannes

I am no LAD expert, so you eill have to find an alternative solution maybe using the CONV block. Or write your own conversion blocks in SCL/STL and call them from LAD.

Johannes4u Posts: 122 Rating: (1)	Hello, I tried your suggestion. But I do not see any opition where you can assign anything else other than BOOL. It accepts only bool and also in the S move. Let's say you want a string '1' when the bool is true and '0' when the bool is false. Have a look at the screenshot. Attachment Capture.zip (545 Downloads)
