Convert 9 pin to 15 pin

lecturer_eee Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	(I think, The other message I sent has a problem, so I copied it here) Hi everybody, first of all I can't speak English well, so sorry for this. I teach electronic in a university in Turkey and we have s7 200 PLC education sets. Before buying new PCs with windows 8, we use PC with windows xp and there was a 9 pin serial port on them. But new PCs doesn't have 9 pin serial port. There is 15 pin female output back of PC. We have some 15 pin and 9 pin cables in labrotory.My question is that How can i convert to 9 pin PC side to 15 Pin? Is there any table which consist of pins should be connect each other? I opened PC/PPI cable and there are just three cable red, black and yellow. As I know, black is ground, yellow is transmit data and red is receieve data for PC. Do you know which pins is right for 15 pin connector? I hope I could understand my problem. Sorry again for English. Thank you so much for your help. playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	I think if you closely that is a vga port and used for video so it is im,possible to convert it to serial for programming your s7-200 . you would need a usb to ppi cable but I don't think the software is released foe windows 8
