Convert from S5 to S7-300 using IP240.

BuiQuang Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi all! I am working on a project of converting an S5 plc to S7-300. I used the converter tool provided with Simatic Manager and it converted most of the program quite succesfully. I have some problems, and i thougt i could get some help here. Problem 1 : 'ASM' command in S5 STL. Here is a list of special function blocks in which the 'asm' command is used. FB238 COMPR FB239 DELETE FB244 SEND FB245 RECEIVE FB246 FETCH FB247 CONTROL FB248 RESET FB249 SYNCHRON FB250 RLG:AE FB251 RLG:AA And here is an example of how it is used. The usage is the same in every block. FB 248 C:CTCSONST.S5D LEN=22 Page 1 Segment 1 Name :RESET Decl :SSNR I/Q/D/B/T/C: D KM/KH/KY/KS/KF/KT/KC/KG: KY Decl :A-NR I/Q/D/B/T/C: D KM/KH/KY/KS/KF/KT/KC/KG: KY Decl :PAFE I/Q/D/B/T/C: Q BI/BY/W/D: BY :ASM KH 0000 :BE I could not find anywhere, what this command does. A stanger thing is that none of those special FB's are called in the rest of the program. They are defined, and in all of them only two commands are used just the same way in the example i gave above. I could not understand the reason of defining the blocks. Why did the programmer defined them if they aren't called in any line of the code? I mean, wouldn't the system work without those unused blocks? If they aren't called anywhere, does that mean that it is ok if i avoid them while programming the s7-300? If so , i don't need to deal with 'asm' code , too. Problem 2: Special OB's. OB21,OB22 and OB31. OB21 and OB22 are special OB's for hot and warm restart. I have converted them into OB101 and OB100 in s7. is this correct? OB31 is used for set cycle monitoring time. I have convert it into SFC34. But I don't know how to convert from OB31 to SFC34. I could not understand its use and so i could not decide if i should use anything to stand for OB31 in the s7 program. Problem 3: FB167 and FB168, module IP240 using for reading encoder. There is an encoder in the system and it is read with ip240 counter module. In the program, FB168 and FB167 are called several times. there are some variables like KANR,BGAD etc. I found explanations for all those parameters. But i could not find out from which address the counted value is going to taken. So, in the block above, an error check is processed. But where is the counted value? How should i convert the parts related with counter card to s7? I used FM351 but don't know to change Input and Output for exactly??? I am desperately looking forward to get some help. Johan Kleinman (E... Posts: 2 Rating: (2)	Hello BuiQuang, I have converted many S5-programms to S7. First your questions: ASM is not a command but a notification that the block is protected. Siemens has written these blocks and the code are hidden. These blocks are mostly system dependend. It is therefore not necessaryto convert these blocks. In S7-300 OB101 does not exist (only S7-400) In S7 OB80 is used for exceeding the maximum cycle time (in stead off OB34 in S5). For the IP240 the counting value is in a DB. By calling FB167 and FB168 you must configure wich DB is used. In your example is that DB140. In DW10 the counting value is present, but also the preset value etc. are in DB140. When you use FM351 you should use the blocks that are on the CD. What I normally do: First use the converting tool. For the digital functionality it is working very well. What I prefer to do is to rewrite all the temporarily flags (F200.0 .. F255.0) to local variables. Also the one shot commands should be changed to FP or FN commands. All of the calls for DW or DX should be expanded with the right DB. Then all off the DB calls can be deleted.The cross reference is then a better tool. Then rewrite all of the analog functions. In S7 is that much easier to do. All communication functions should be rewritten (using netpro en right communication blocks) All special functions (like counters etc.) should be rewritten.

With FM351 I have FC0, FC1, FC2 and configureall by using configuring package of FM351. What do you do to rewrite FB167 and FB168??? Because they were protected. Johan Kleinman (E... Posts: 2 Rating: (2)	Hello Buiquang, You don't need FB167/168 any longer because you use FC 0/1 for the new counting module (this is what I mend with rewrite special functions). Only where you use in the old programm DB140 you must change this to the new DB configured with FC 0/1.

There is also a example installed when you installed the FM351 package where you may find the controlling of the FM351. Those example you can find when you open a project and click on the tab "Sample Projects"..

Jozéf_2DP Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, Advice you to use for your counter, a CPU 31Xc or 12XXc designed with integrated counting inputs. It allows you to use SFB's to hundle you Counter. Most of S5 function blocks are replaced by a simple instruction In S7. like converting a data Format.... You can also bypass the unsued function like a PID control, If it's not used in the S5. Thank you
