Converting from INTEGER to STRING CPU 312C

Kaufic Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I have CPU 312C, and CP 340 "340-1AH01-0AE0" for communication after RS232.I would like, by this communication send only String "Driving code". I have someenter data ininteger. Existing some converting from Integer to String for CPU 312C ? Thank you for Help Kaufic

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (259)	If this string is perdefined (i.e. it doesn't change during programm execution) you can just declare it as constant. 2 more things- is string really required? Maybe you can use ARRAY OF BYTE. And one more - String is quite simple format: byte 0 = maximum number of CHARs in STRING (CHAR data type is BYTE from PLC side of view), 1= number of symbols used, then comes array of chars up to length, defined in byte0. Every CHAR is symbol from ASCII table - so A=65=B#16#41, B=66 and so on. So if you don't like standart functions (i can't imagine why:^) you can make such function by yourself.

Hello, There are some points regarding the original question that may help understanding the issue more: Why local variable ! if you check the online help of the function, RET_VAL accepts 2 types of data.Data in Local area of a function/OB.For DB in case of a function that is not re-usable use global address in a DB.A sample can be found HERE and a solution in a DB proposed in an OB in SCL.The output (FC16.jpg ). FB accepts string data type, it is the easiest part and all freinds mentioned that. The point here is that, for an FC that is re-usable it is possible to transfer out the result of temporary calcualted data to a Global data block and that will be valid for several CPU cycle.The point is that, this type of data transfer needs knowledge of complex data type handling in FCs' in/out , but it possible.There is a solution available in a post in German conference!
