Converting from profibus to modbus

I'm using TIA PORTAL V13 and I'm new to it, can any body help me how to do it? Best regards Ali ALKARN

Best regards Ali ALKARN Are you wanting to accept a telegram from the S120 CU320-DP-2 with things like actual speed, actual torque, actual current, fault & warning codes, and then retransmit via Modbus to a different drive or some other device? Or, are you removing your S120 and installing a Modbus device instead?

If you can please guide me how to do it I would really appreciate that. Best regards Ali ALKARN

Best regards Ali ALKARN Look for FAQs on using the Modbus blocks on the s7-1200 and get communications established with your Modbus device. Look for S120 / S7-1200 blocks in S7-1200 / Portal V13 in the library. Use starter to commission your s120 and establish the telegram for your S7-1200 (this part I am not certain about since you are not controlling the s120 with the s7-1200 are you?). Once the PLC and S120 are communicating, you can simply copy / MOVE data from the received telegram to your Modbus datablock and now you are sending your drive parameters. Each piece is not too difficult and the above approach should get you pretty close without too much effort. You will want some kind of a heartbeat on the s7-1200 / Modbus connection so the receiving device can detect when the s7-1200 is communicating.

ali alkarn Experienced Member Joined: 4/3/2014 Last visit: 2/28/2025 Posts: 54 Rating: (0)	Using TIA PORTAL it's easy to convert profibus into modbus, so I did it after looking deeply into the available instructions. I will explain the way to spread the knowledge. Firstly we choose our S7 cpu and it's communications modules, I was using S7-1200 with CM 1243-5 as profibus master and CM 1241 as modbus slave. Second we configurate the addresses for profibus and modbus accordingly. Now we insert our profibus slave (which is cu320-dp-2 in my case) and choose the telegram we want to transfer and it must be the same with cu320-dp-2 settings then we finished profibus section. Lastly using MB_COMM_LOAD we configure modbus settings then using MB_SLAVE we send the telegrams we took from profibus.
