converting from STL to LAD

Regards Hello, Abdul; Please, feel free to do so. I hope you understand that your post is incomplete, at least you could show us some of the code you want to convert. In any case, your machine understands very well the code in STL, it is much more efficient than LAD for the processor. I presume that you want to convert because you want to understand the STL code, but you will have to decipher it if you go through the conversion, and in that case it is better to comment the code thoroughly for review instead of converting to LAD or FBD. In any case, here is a manual on STL code, so you understand the basis of STL programming, and a FAQ discussing conversion issues that are prevalent when attempting a conversion, both from Siemens: SIMATIC STEP 7 V5.5 Statement List (STL) for S7-300 and S7-400 Programming Why can't you display an STL program in FBD or in LAD? And you will find in attachment a sample of S7 code, providing step-by-step description of the conversion process; I originally uploaded it from another forum I participate in. Regards To my knowledge, STL to LAD is not an option except in MicroWIN. If your STL code is within the scope of a s7-200 processor, you could try MicroWIN and let it convert your STL code to LAD.

Kelu Posts: 88 Rating: (12)	Apparently, it seems it is not possible to convert LAD in STL (I use CPU-1500). Otherwise, we can convert LAD to FBD. I clic in "menu Edit --> Switch programming language". It's too bad, because previously in Step 7 5.5 in was useful.

There are many features in TIA Portal that do not work in any language other than the language written. The documentation mentions various syntax options and access methods available in the various supported programming languages. Since you can write code in STL that is not directly convertible to LAD / FBD or SCL, the option to switch freely between them is not available - at least that is my assumption. Why we cannot go from ladder to SCL or STL, well, that is beyond me as LAD / FBD is the least powerful in many ways. I would really like to have many of my older LAD blocks translate to SCL so I could make some simple changes and make it more efficient without a call to an SCL block. As I said though, if you use MicroWIN (and as you say, legacy step 7), you can convert there, and export to a source file which you can import into Portal. I would expect some amount of rework would be necessary for the same reason Siemens does not provide an automated tool to freely switch between them.

Tarang Patel Posts: 7 Rating: (6)	Dear ENG.ABDUL, You can try this way... Cut your STL network in a different part from bottom and paste in a new networks. Then convert it in to Ladder. If you have the data in real format you can not convert it into ladder.First create the TEMP_VAR of it and try to convert that format. bye.
