Couldn't find T14,T37,etc.,

Dear Sir,

I am facing a strange problem....I am having a multiproject with 3 PLC's connected by MPI network....HMI is WinCC....I am attachingPLC project also...

The problem: In OB1, network-35 of PLC-1&2...it calls FC80(a protected block) with many timers defined as "IN" timer datatype...I am not able to find out where are these timers (Ex.T14,T15,T37,T47, etc.,)....using Location I am seeing as read....I want to know where these timers get initiated?

The MPI is using a global data table....But strangely in the table I cannot find the timers...

I find timers only in main PLC-3....My questionbecomes... Are these timers being used at PLC -1&2??.....Also by using variable table both at PLC1&2 I observe different timing...I also saw HMI whether these timers are created by them...But I am new to HMI so couldn't come to any conclusion.

I donot want to confuse you.....Please look at the project along with HMI and help me to understand where the timers get initiated?

Looking at your PLC 1 & 2 program in OB1 &FC80those timersare used insideFC80 to perform the timinglogicof this block.

Probable the author (Jos_Bagg) never heard about SFB3,4,5 stat instance inFB,so he wire those timers as inputs

And he protected the block [8)].
The timers are initialized as follow (inside FC80):

IN0 - On-Delay Timer 5 seconds (S5T#5S )
IN1 - On-Delay Timer9 seconds (S5T#9S )
IN2 - On-Delay Timer 13seconds (S5T#13S )
IN3 - On-Delay Timer500 msec (S5T#500MS )
IN4 - On-Delay Timer3 seconds (S5T#3S )
IN5 - On-Delay Timer30min (S5T#30M )
IN6 - On-Delay Timer30min (S5T#30M )
IN7 - On-Delay Timer30min (S5T#30M )
IN8 - Retentive On-Delay Timer2hours (S5T#2H )
IN9 - Retentive On-Delay Timer2hours (S5T#2H )
IN10 - Retentive On-Delay Timer2hours (S5T#2H )

I am very thankful from the bottom of my heart....So you mean those timers are used inside the Function 80...Yes I understood....I am describing the problem to you:

For the same inputs to FC80 in PLC1&2....Ishould get same outputs...right!...But I am getting different outputs...

I also copied FC80 from PLC2 and pasted in PLC1 and tried but I got wrong results....Please suggest me How to handle?...Is there any problem with cpu in PLC1?

Also how did you know the nature of timers in FC80...Do you have special tool to look to protected blocks...I also want to know the logic happening in FC80....so that I can write my own programme..

Also please answer this: Why here GD Table is used? Did he used timers in it? I hope he has not used timers in GD Table....Please confim this...

You are getting different outputs maybe because the inputs& DB80 used in FC80 are not the same on PLC1 and PLC2.
If this is a machine in your factory and you are troubleshooting this, I would suggest youto contact the machine builder / OEM who designed- build this and ask themfor assistance. If this is not possible you can contact Siemens nearest office andask for a System Integrator tohelp you with this issue.
In my previous reply I thought you are interestedin those timers for documentation purpose & understanding of the program.

How can we know that DB80 is used in FC80?...Also why GD table is used here in this project? Please provide answers to the above doubts...

I will start with the 2nd question:
Global data is the simplest way to communicate PLC-PLC. It is not unusual to select GD to share data acros few PLC if they are network together on MPI. Is this answer your question regarding GD?
First question regarding FC80: I am not clear why you are so picky about this FC; I answers all your questions (what is going on with timers, why I don't have the same outputs etc).
If you want to understand / troubleshoot this program the best place is to contact the author.
If you want to duplicate / copy the program and implementin your project I would recommend starting from scratch and perhaps you will end up with a better solution. This program has a strong stamp of anovice ABPLC programmer. I wasnot impressedat all from what I see. Regarding how to unprotect a block you can google around if you are really curious about the block.

I am very thankful for your continuing support...I got the solution without unprotecting that function FC80...Actually the programmer has not provided any comments,title,etc., I have used PLCSIM to find out the logic...
