I have 4 counter signal I need to receive in a PLC for displaying on a HMI screen.

5-12 volt

20 - 10.000 hz

What hardware can I use todo these, assume a normal digital input is to slow?

A counter card? Must I use 300 or 1500, or has 1200 a counter card who is quick enough?

Hi,

S7-1200 should work.

With Fast Counters / HSC you can count up to 100kHz or with SB1221 DI4x5VDC you can reach 200kHz.

Please also check manual / table on page 28 "comparing CPU models"

Thank you, when I`m reading the doc you gave me link to it`s look like there are 6 High-speed-counters for all 1200 cpu`s, but when I check up the datasheet for the CPU`s 6ES7211-1HE40-0XB0 (CPU 1211C) has 3 counters and6ES7212-1HE40-0XB0 (CPU 1212C) has 4 ?

Counting frequency (counter) max. 100 kHz

I need 4 inputs, so then must CPU 1212C be the cheapest option for me?

I shall only count the pulses and present on HMI and have a reset button in HMI,
thats all, so super small program.

It`s looks like the input need 5-15volt ?
The signal in my case is 5-12volt ... will it work? can I do something with it ? another card? or?

The nominal voltage of the integrated inputs of the S7-1200 CPUs is 24 VDC.

For a 5 VDC Signal you need this Signal-board:

6ES7221-3AD30-0XB0

Sorry, it was the wrong Link and the wrong module. I updated it.

The Signalboard has sourcing inputs. It has a nominal voltage of 5 VDC. from the technical data in the S7-1200 manual you can not give it more than 6 VDC.

Have a look to the S7-1200 manual in Appendix A.13:

 no, thats wrong. The datasheet does not say 5 Volt and 15 Volt!
