Counting Characters in a String Field

I keep having trouble with my program due to the cameras only returning a partial result - even though they shouldn't. I want to add logic to only fire the output when the srting is 8 characters long. Is this possible? Thanks

Thanks There is a string function to obtain the string length without peeking inside the tag's physical bytes. In this way, should Siemens ever change how a string is stored, you can be assured your code will continue to work as hardware and software evolve by using the string length function. The block is LEN(your_string) To read the max length, MAX_LEN(your_string) will return for string, 254, and for string[20] will return 20.
