Dear experts,

I have an application where I need to use the CP 1242-7 GPRS V2 connected to a S7-1214C PLC to send messages or receive commands

Being my first time working with GSM/GPRS networks I looked for available application examples.

I found Signaling and Switching via SMS with S7-1200 and CP 1242-7 GPRS V2 (Set 32) perfect to check and better understand how setup works.

I modified the project found in the application example to fit my needs in terms of GSM numbers and security.

1. I checked the functionality of the SndSms Function Block to send a message to my mobile phone and worked well.
2. I checked the broadcasting functionality as presented in the application example and worked well.
3. When it come to check the SetGet functionality I got stuck.

Right after I activate the functionality of SetGet from the HMI I got the following error code: 00118088 and of course no SMS with the already defined commands was identified in the application.

Still, I found that I could see the correct SMS messages in the online&diagnostics of the 1242-7 GPRS v2. Please check the attached picture.

I looked in the application example document for the corresponding error code. It seems that TRCV_C function is responsible. Took a look in TIA Portal help for this function error codes and found that there is an issue with the fact that receive area is to small or that the value of the LEN parameter is larger than the received area set in the Data parameter

I also activate the RcvSms functionality, still the same error and sometimes got another error code: 0011_80C5. This error code seems to be related to the fact that the remote partner has terminated the connection.

If you have any advice on how to solve this issue please be kind and share it.

Siemens support, provide me a hint, you can observe it attached.

Making this changes allowed the SmsRcv function to get the SMS message into DB memory.

Still the SetGet functionality did not work as explained in the application example. I got a similar error code. As far as I understand from Siemens support there is an issue.

For me was enough to have the SmsRcv functionality working, I build a function similar to SetGet for my application.

thank you for your update, I got the same error, but after I changed the adhoc to false and add the TRCV_C LEN to 198, the RCV worked fine.

but still SetGet not working as expected, I will take a look on it deeper and I will update if I have found anything, and I hope Siemens will update the application for the new update not keeping the application example as it is now, and also I hope that they will solve the SetGet problem.

After further troubleshooting at SetGet FB, I found the following:

1- it is started with IDLE_START

2- changed to RECEIVE_STATE

3- call of RcvSms at #instRcvSms

4- I got an error at TRCV_C with status 16#0011 8A7F

5- changedto ERROR_STATE

6- and retruned back to IDLE_STATE

I have opened a support request from SIEMENS, and they informed me to:

a- set the LEN = 0 and Adhoc = true for the TRCV_C

b- deactivate the "optimized block access" for all blocks.

now, the SetGet FB is working fine.
