Hi,

I have a CPU 1212C DC/DC/RLY (new version) and a CP 1242-7 V2 GPRS.

The SIM card is inserted and has been tested with a cell phone, and doesn't have a PIN, but still on the 1242-7 the DIAG light is flashing red and the network light is red, all other leds are off, which according to the manual means that the SIM card is missing.

I have tried everything that I can think of and I don't have any more ideas.

Could this be caused by bad cell phone signal quality?

Hello,

Have you connected antena to CP modem? Sometime due to signal quality or may be someone is calling on same sim card its shows error .

For what purpose are you using cp module?

Have you configured all parameter in Module configuration?

For testing , try with different sim card for getting decision that , its problem of sim card.

Estuve leyendo todos los comentarios y me identifico con ustedes.

Yo también tenia ese error, hasta que agote todas mis salidas y me di cuenta que era un problema de módulo, no tuve que reclamar a mi proveedor, esto se deriva con Siemens y efectivamente, era problema del módulo (hardware). 

Asi que me lo cambia y ahora ya puedo enviar sms desde mi plc.

Les recomiendo piensen en esa posiblilidad .

I am reading all the comments and understand where you are coming from.

I also had these problems,  until I exhausted every solution and discovered it was a problem with the module itself, I contacted my sales rep who talked to Siemens who agreed it was a problem with the module (hardware).

So the module was changed and now I can send SMS from my PLC.

I recommend that you think about such a possibility.
