I have a CP 1616 profinet Card and my question it is : Can I develope a softeware that could communicate with PLC? (by CP1616 ) Can I Find Information about CP1616 Development Kit (SDK)? (Or any Suggestion) Thanks

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, may you explain what you mean by communicating with PLC? The CP 1616 is a specialized CP for PROFINET. It is able to be Controller or Device. In the Windows environment it is capable of being PROFINET IO Controller. Right now only a view CP’s are able to be PROFINET IO Device, that would be the only chance. SOFTNET S7 or standard TCP/IP is, at least as far as I know, not possible. Best regards J_Bell

Now i decided to develop a Level 2 decision making control system base on PLCs. the plan is using some devices to bring PLC information flow on ethernet and plug it to a PC console. Now i want to know How can i develop ProfiNet protocol to comunicate with device and my industrial ethernet. As far as i know, the CP 1616 is suitable for this and there something like SDK for the profiNet protocol. seeking your reply And regards. Attachment for.JPG (263 Downloads)

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Alireza, I still fear that the PROFINET IO Protocol that is supported by the CP 1616 is not suitable for your need. Imagine, if you have PROFINET IO you can have your PC running as Controller or as Client. As a controller you can collect the configured Data from several PROFINET IO Devices. A direct access tothe complete Memory of the PLC is not possible.As I mentioned before you can not use PLC CPU Interfaces for this, because they do not support Device capability. So you would have to spend money on CPs that supports PROFINET IO Capability. Well the alternative would be the PROFINET IO Device service, here you can be Device to one single Controller, if you want to exchange Data to several PLCs this is not possible. If you want to collect Data freely from various PLCs why don't you use the S7 Protocol? You do not need a special card for it and you may have a OPC Server for easy access to all data. Well if you are happy with the restrictions of PROFINET IO I am fine with it. I hope I made my point more clear now. Best regards J_Bell
