CP 341-RS232C communication problems

DMO Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hello! I'm having an issue with an CP 341-RS232C module which is connected to a small terminal box which sends out a ASCII code. To my knowledge i have all the correct installations (Siemens configuration package and FB's provided from example project :zXX21_01_PtP_Com_CP34x --> CP341 Protocol 3964) and followed all the guidelines (CP 341 -First steps in Commissioning, CP 341 Point-to-Point Communication, Installation and Parameter Assignment) None the less I do not see anything coming in at "DB41.DBW18" I do get an error counter and status in the provided VAR table (W#16#1E0F) and a status code in the instance DB22 (DW#16C0809300) None of these errors seem to be referenced or documented any ware. Does anyone have an idea? thx Danny p.s. I have attachements corresponding to the above Attachment Siemens.zip (105 Downloads)

You need to setup a DB with an "Array of Char" e.g. Array [0...4] of Char, and in this input your message that you want to send to your device one byte character per line. Then you need to declare the DB number and starting byte of your message to the P_SEND function. DB_NO = DB number e.g DB1 DBB_NO = start byte number e.g 0 LEN = number of bytes to send Also setup a DB to recieve the data back from your device with an Array [0...x] of Char, where x is the number of bytes in the recieved message. Then declare the DB to the P_RCV function in the same way as above. Setup some slow clocked bit to send the messages every say 100ms or so by toggling the REQ input on the P_SEND and the EN_R on the P_RCV, you can trigger both at the same time and the CP341 will handle the timing. Also make sure to have to correct base address of your CP341, this is the lowest address of the module e.g 256...271. to the send and recieve functions at LADDR. Hope that helps.

DMO Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hi furutsun, Thank you for your response, I only need to receive data from the terminal, nothing has to be sent. The example block uses an array of bytes. I havnt tried CHAR yet. I'll see if that makes a different. Base address is correct, 256

mrfusion Member Joined: 6/26/2014 Last visit: 1/13/2020 Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	Depends what you want to do with the data really. It is just how the data is interpreted, char will be the ascii character, where as byte will be just the 0-255 number.

DMO Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	I found out what the error code means: it states: 'The DP component addressed via ID or F_ID is not configured.' But i dont have and DP component configured....or do i have to configure something else?

DMO Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	I finally managed to solve the problem myself with the aid of another forum (http://www.sps-forum.de/simatic/48120-cp340-fehler-1e0e.html). The CPU i was using does not seem to support the FB's and SFB's that I was using from the example project. Even though I got no CPU or compile errors. After using a newer 317 PLC (317-2AK14-0AB0)everything worked fine........
