Anit Kumar Posts: 153 Rating: (2)	dear experts, Can anyone provide sample program for CP 341-RS232c (6es7 341-1ah01-0ae0) in which CP card is working as modbus master??? In my program when I am doing so I am getting error bit and Status as 16#00301 and not getting any data on hyper terminal. what may be the cause??

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Anit, when you have installed the Modbus driver, a sample is available at FILE -> OPEN -> SAMPLES -> BROWSE and then select the Modbus Master example. When getting error 0301 the inputs at the send block are not set to valid values. You can find the error description in the CP341 manual. Regards, Kaulquappe

You would have to make a binary file that contains a modbus packet. If the PC is the master, it would be slightly easier, as you would just make a modbus request binary file and send it, and then examine the response. If the PC is the slave, it is a little more tricky. You would have to ensure that the master is issuing a fixed request. You would then make a binary file that contains a valid response for the request. You would that have to very quickly send this file when you see the request. If you delay the sending of the response to long, the master will suffer a timeout error. You could give yourself a bit more time by increasing the masters timeout value to it's maximum value. Even so, it would still prove to be very problematic. As others have said, the best way is to use a modbus simulator as this takes care of it all for you, and will handle requests/responses on the fly. There are many paid and free example available on the internet. I have one that you can have if you wish. It is freeware. PM me if you require it.

When I am forcing register values in Modscan i am getting values in DB, but when I am sending value from PLC , in modscan no value is cominng.. And when I am making CP as modbus master, my transmit/receive LEDs are blinking, but I can send or receive data with Mod sim and CP. kindly resolve my problem...

When I am forcing register values in Modscan i am getting values in DB , but when I am sending value from PLC , in modscan no value is cominng.. "A picture tells more than thousend words". Can you kindly upload us a screenshot of the modbus traffic? The modsim software has an option to monitor/show the traffic. You should find it somewhere within the menu bar. I am expecting an exception code in the response from the slave (PLC). Meaning you try to read an address in the slave(PLC) which is not configured. And when I am making CP as modbus master, my transmit/receive LEDs are blinking, but I can send or receive data with Mod sim and CP. kindly resolve my problem... Regards.
