CP 343-5 Communication Problem

I have faced the same problem.,

Open your WinCC explorer, Under Tag Management => SIMATIC S7 PROTOCAL SUITE s=>Right click Profibus select Properties and check the connetion settings are OK.

The main setting to be checked is System Parameterfor the Profibus connection.Goto Tag Management => SIMATIC S7 PROTOCAL SUITE s=>Right click Profibus selectSystem Parameter.

Check the communication CPselected in the System Parameter is matching with the CP card inserted in SCADA PC for the profibus communication.

After checkingthat setting Restart your WinCC => Goto Runtime => SelectStatus of the Driver connection under Tools menu bar of WinCC explorer and you can see the connection status is OK.

WinCC also comes supplied with open communication

channels such as PROFIBUS DP/FMS and OPC

Hello Niranjan, guys.

If you look at the attached screenshots in the last post, you will see one source ov a very frustrating detail that stumped many clients, in the old days.

The access point name is "CP_L2_1:"

If you forget the colon (:) at the end, the configuration is rejected without explanation.

Hi Friends


I am using a CP 343-5 DP/Fms module.

the problem is that i am not able to communicate this module via WinCC

i am able to monitor the CPU from Simatic Manager

but when i am trying to monitor this from WInnCC its just not happenning
as per my knowledge i have got all the settings right.

but Still this is been a ???? why is it not just happening

Hello SPV;
A ??? symbol in a WinCC animation means that you are not connected properly to the PLC registers you are trying to read.
Are you using FMS connections? If so:
How have you setup the WinCC PC for FMS comms? The S7 program, the WinCC channel?
FMS (Field message Service) is very different than DP; only one "message" is transfered between participants, and you have to create it as a globalDB, dedicating it to FMS comms with a Communication option (see the following FAQ for details).
Here is a FAQ that shows how you would have setup the FMS channel with a S7 PLC, using WinCC 5.1. You don't mention your version of WinCC or Simatic Net, but the basic principles should be quite the same whatever the version level is.

Since theWinCC V. 7.0 system Description also mentions channels for FMS, you should have information available on the WinCC help files:
