CP 343 TCP connection error using AG_RECV

Vincent YuHang Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	I have a barcode scanner which uses TCP/IP to communicate with the PLC. But I get the error code 8183, which means the configuration is missing the connection is not estalished My hardware configuration settings are: CP 343: 130.10.10.6, port 2000 Connection properties: ID 1 LADDR 16#W#0110 barcode scanner: 130.10.10.25, port 2112 PC: 130.10.10.5 The barcode scanner serves as a active connection server and the PLC simply listens data from the scanner. I used wireshark to track the package but nothing at all showed up on screen when there should have TCP/IP packages coming up. Any thoughts on this problem? I am so confused..

Vincent YuHang Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	CP 343 is networked with PC and the barcode scanner with its 2 ethernet ports. I doubled checked all the possible reasons I can think of but the result remains silent. In Wireshark, I can see all the traffic between PC and PLC but not a single address concerned with 192.10.10.25, the barcode scanner's IP address. Promiscuous mode is activated in Wireshark. The scanner will send its data to PLC whenever a reading result occurs. But there is simply no records about 192.10.10.25.

What you have written here is confusing. The server is not active, it is passive. It is only the client that is active. So are you saying that the PC is the client and the PLC is the server, or vice-versa? With TCP connections, it is the resposibility of the client to establish the communications interface. It does this thus:- Client sends and SYN packet to the server, the server responds with a SYN, ACK packet, and the client then responds with an ACK packet, the connection is now open. The server will not do anything at all until the client sends out the first SYN packet (i.e. it is passive) If the S7 is server, the "active connection establishment" checkbox should be be unchecked in the connection setup in netpro.You will then start you TCP client application on the PC. If the S7 is client, the "active connection establishment" checkbox should be be checked in the connection setup in netpro.You will then start you TCP server application on the PC. If I had to guess what your issue is, I would say that both sides have been made servers, or both sides have been made clients. You have to decide with side is client and make the other side the server.

It sits back in my mind that the server acts like a "master" in the network, so it is the "active", or "pushing force" in the communication. But I am not right. It is only when the "client" has a communication task the server will respond, so it is actually passive and "serves" the communication service. I am testing the system now
