CP1242-7 communication

Our requirement is of data buffering/temporary storage in case of communication failure. Can this be achieved through this CP or shall we use TIM modules with S7 300 CPUs? Thanks, Raheel

Symfairy Posts: 118 Rating: (11)	Hi Raheel, the CP 1242-7 GPRS buffers the data, so that the data will be sent when the connection is established again. But I think that data bufferingonly works if you use a PC withthesoftware Telecontrol Server Basic, so all data between the RTUs are sentto each otherviathis server or you can just send the data only to this server. By closely studying CP manual on the last page it says that last 1000 messages are buffered in the CP. And you are right about transfer of data is onyl possible in case of teleservice is installed on remote computer. Now there comes one more question: After communication link is re-established where can i see these last 1000 messages? BR, RJ

Symfairy Posts: 118 Rating: (11)	Hi Raheel, I think the datawill be saved witha date stampin the CP.So once the connection is reestablished all the data will be sent to the telecontrolserver (OPC server).You could configure a trendin your OPC-client so to see all the values of the data.
