CP1613 in Honeywell PKS Server

prash Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	I am doing a project of PNG distribution network. I am using CP343-1 Lean module for ethernet communication. We have used Siemens PLC 315-2DP for the same, in all 36 PLCs are used at various locations. Each PLC station has CP343-1 LEAN (6GK7-343-1CX10-0XE0) module for Ethernet connectivity We need to communicate some data from PLCs to Honeywell PKS Server at remote location. The data from PLCs is coming to a HUb through CP343-1 Lean modules. To the Hub a VSAT module is connected which transmits data over satellite which is received at the Server side by another Vsat module. On the server side we have used CP1613 card for Networking. We are able to communicate with the PLCs but the communication breaks gradually after some time. We are not able to figure out the reason. Doubting the CP1613, we have thought of MODBUS communication on TCP/IP using CP343-1 LEAN card. We want to know whether the above mentioned CP343-1 Lean supports MODBUS on TCP/IP. AlsoI would like to know the limitations of CP1613, How many station it supports and the configuration steps for CP1613.

Please consider that if you are using a SIMATIC NETS7-1613driver that it would be a very expensive connection, the driver wanted to keep always contact.... It is better to built up the connection, transport your data and then closing the connection, or do you want to communicate always ? MODBUS on TCP/IP is also possible, then you need a functionblock from I&S www.siemens.com/IT4Industry See the leaflet in the attachement... I don't think that MODBUS TCP/IP will solve your problem, first off all you have to look which timing you need, a Satelite connection is never fast and could be disturbed easily. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear prash, please allow me to say that I do not understand your point to change to Modbus TCP. I see that you use a CP 1613 with most probably S7 1613 as driver and you want to change to Modbus TCP, why? Just because the Connections are getting lost? The VSAT you use is via Satellite, isn't it? So what type of network interconnection do you use? Is it a VPN? If so is the VPN still active as your S7-Connections are going down? I would personally stay with S7-Connection, especially with the CP 1613. I doubt that the CP will support Modbus TCP that easily. Best regards J_Bell
