Once we know for example that it is Modbus RTU, we could give you some help. Until then you are just shouting down a barrel (translated: spending much energy without getting any results). Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier dear Daniel Chartier the protocol Modbus RTU is used in the third party side and am reeving request and sending an data with slave id , function code, address length ......data................crc byte but the third party receives my message with an (crc error)........how to eliminate this error i have ( fc block )for CRC check it generate crc of data even though iam not able to send the correct data with CRC .................... please give some solution...........

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 4/19/2025 Posts: 12346 Rating: (2710)	Hello Gowda; So, you need to make the CP 340 as a Modbus RTU master (if the DCS acts as a slave) or slave (if the DCS acts as a master). Do you understand this clearly? Whatever functions you are using, if you are not specifically using the Modbus RTU protocol on the CP 340, the exchanges will always be refused by the DCS. And I do not suggest you implement the Modbus RTU protocol by yourself (including the CRC calculations). It can be done, but it requires a very good understanding of the protocol, thePLC and much programming savvy. Oour friend smiffy once stated that it took him up to 18 months to have a working and debugged Modbus code on a PLC. CP 340 communication with RS-485 modbus Unfortunately, in Siemens world, you cannot implement the Modbus RTU protocol on a CP 340, only on a CP 341, with a purchased license and dongle. You would have to search elsewhere for a Modbus RTU softeware for a CP 340, and you have been given hints on that before, in this thread and others.
