CP340 together CP341 problem

ALU Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi all, I have configured system as per attatachment, CP341 talk Modbus protocol, CP340 talk ASCII protocol, if only CP341, system run well. however, when I add CP340, I cannot load FB2 and FB3 (CP340 send, receive FB) to CPU. Pls noted that when I try only CP340 the system also run well. Anyone who help me to confirm that can I use CP340 (ASCII protocol)together with CP341 (Modbus Slave) as attatachment??? Many thanks!!! When use CPU314C-2DP (firmware 2.6) + CP340. test ASCII communication ok. But, when CPU315-2DP (firmware 1.1) + CP341 + CP340. Cannot load FB2 and FB3 (send and receive function blocks of CP340) to CPU.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/20/2025 Posts: 3031 Rating: (1058)	Hello ALU you didn't list the part number of your 315, but my guess is that it is a pretty OLD CPU. If that's the case than the reason that FB 2 & 3 won't work is because they use SFB 52 & 53 inside which don't exist in older S7 CPU's. Siemens has - for that reason - "old" FB102& 103 available in the CP PtP library (which use SFC 58 & 59), give these a try and let us knowif it solved the problem. I hope this helps

ALU Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Thanks Frizt, Though I didnt list part number of CPU315, it shown in the HW configure as attatch, its part number is 6ES7 315-2AF03-0AB0 , coz I will try FBs you suggested, could you please tell me that CPU 6ES7 315-2AF03-0AB0 is old as you said or not? Many thanks.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/20/2025 Posts: 3031 Rating: (1058)	Hello again ALU it is indeed an OLD CPU (released in 1999 and phased out in 2004). To be sure to be sure though, you can easily check/verify for yourself if it has SFB 52 & 53 in it by checking its "performance" data online. There's two ways to find out: 1.) Select the Blocks folder and change to online view. 2.) Go to the "PLC" menu, select "Diagnostic/Setting" --> "Module Information" and then go to the "Performance Data" tab. I'm quite confident that SFB52& 53 will be missing from your 315but SFC58& 59 will (hopefully) be there. Just for completeness, to find out which SFC's/SFB's are used by which (Know_How_Protected) Siemens "Standard" Block, simply right click on the block, select "Object Properties" and have a look at the "Call" tab. I hope this helps

Hello ALU You are most welcome and I'm glad you've solved it. As for your firmware question I'm afraid to say that it won't help. The latest firmware version for the 6ES7 315-2AF03-0AB0 is V1.2.1 (it can be found HERE) and was released back in 2002. Neither it nor any previous firmware releases do however addthe needed SFB52&53 to the OSof your315 though.
