CP342-5 without LED lighted - 24V OK

SAV Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Dear all I have to examined 2 CP342-5 (profibus) returned from one of my customer site. I have put the both CP into a configuration which I know is working. But the first thing to note is that for the both CP no LED are lighting. The 24v is good. May someone have been facing to this kind ofproblem ? Do you think that if something on site is fault on the network is could impacted the alimentation module of the CP ? eg equipment not in same ground, high voltage on the Profibus connection. lightning ? Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello SAV, I fear that something or someone has damaged these two units. I guess there might be two typical reasons I have seen myself. 1. Someone putted 110 V or 230 V AC on the Voltage input. 2. Due to flowting Grounds on the RS 485 Interface high Voltage curshed the CP. To make sure what crushed this unit you may have to open it and check the boards. Best regards and stay calm.

Could we concluded that the problem take place on the network ? Hi, Then you may concluded that it is not coming from the powersupply, do you have a PS305 or PS307 to feed the electronics and some other powersupply, maybe a Sitop, to feed all the I/O? If the minus of your powersupply is connected to earth then there could be no difference. Is the Profibus cable thats between the different equipment laying in the conducts with all kind of cables? Normally you have to lay that cable as a category A cable, so it is not ok when it is laying with all kind of cables into the conducts It have to be at least 10cm of all other cables. You could lay the surface of the cable where it comes into the cabinet around the cable on earth with cable clamps.

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello SAV, this depends... it could also be lightning strike into the PS, this affects not all the time all modules. I would rather recommend to contact your closest repaircenter, they can open the device and investigate the reason for the fault. Even if it may be expensive to transport the CP but - it is better to know than to guess. Stay calm.
