Yen Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I have tried toconnect aCPU S7-315with CP 343-1 lean to CPU S7-417-4H via CP443-1 through ethernet connection.Itested the communication and found out that I can onlyget maximum 2 links upand only around 200bytes read/write per link. I would like to find out from you, if othertypes of CP 343-1, such as the ADVANCED or FULL versionis possible to create more links with CPU417 ?

Yen Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	The communication links between CPU315 and CPU417 is done through RJ45 cable, using ethernet ports on both CP343-1 and CP443-1, and hence Internet Protocol. Each link can transfer up to 160bytes (or 240bytes ??)of data in one direction, and multiple links are supposed to be possible.I am expecting 10 links to be built up. My customer has purchased the CP343-1 lean version, and we tested the communication, and only up to 2 links is possible. Before he purchased CP343-1 full version or advanced version, we want to be sure that it can build up to 10 links with CP443-1. Will appreciate confirmation.

Maybe you should check this out (BSEND can transfer large amout of data). http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/22789990 2.CPU 315 has limitaions on connections (check HW->CPU315->Connections). 3. Multipile links are possible ( i was able to create them in NetPro - but can't really check - no HW). 4. By the type of connection i meant what do you choose in NetPro - S7/TCP/....

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Yen, as it seems you have S7-Connections configured, single sided to complete it all. In this special case the CP 343-1 Lean is not the responsible device to blame, it is the CPU. As far as I see it your PLC CPU has 4 S7 Resources. 1 is logged for PG Functions, 1 is logged for HMI Functions and 2 are available for free use. So if you configure 2 S7 Connections from your S7-400 to the S7-300 these Resources are filled. Theseare your options: You may use different communication protocols, like ISO on TCP, TCP or UDP. With these you may add up to 8 Connections with this CP. You may use a different CP, with a CP 343-1 EX30 you may get up to 16 S7 Connections and 16 ISO Transport, ISO on TCP, TCP or UDP Connections at a time. I hope I could answer your question. Yen Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	I havechecked the number of connections in use during communication and yes there is 4 S7 connections for CPU315.Out of these4, 2 connections have been usedup for redundant connection to CPU417.2 connections remained available. However, the number of connections seemed to be independant of the number of links in use. The link mentioneduses communication blocks FB14 "GET" and FB15 "PUT" for data communication between CPU315 and CPU417. Referring to the attached manual, it is referred as R_ID. I need to know how many R_ID (pairs of GET and PUT communication blocks) can I configure whenI use CP343-1 lean, CP343-1 full and CP343-1 Advanced version, if that matters. I need 10 links. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Yen, I am sorry but you seem to have misplaced some. First of all the Parameter R_ID is only available for BSEND / BRECV, not for PUT / GET. This is due to the fact that you do not have Partner FB / SFB on the Server for this type of communication. Would you have a Standard CP (EX30 or an Advanced CP) this would be different. Another thing is the number of Resources you talk about. Well you have 4 Resources, one is preset for PG functions and may not be changed to 0. One Resource is preset for HMI functions... so you have 2 left which you use already for your redundant Server connection for the H System. With a lot of luck you may receive some more if your change your S7-Basic Communication to 1 but as said, with luck. So you still want to have 10 Connections. At the moment, with the configuration you use I see no chance for this. The only way that would promise some result would be to use different PUT / GET functions you call in the S7-400. The Connection you use would be 1 for each part system. The only con in this would be that the update rate for each Communication drops. So you will have to wait a certain time until you get all communication done. As an alternative you may use a Standard CP, as mentioned. This CP allows you to run up to 16 S7 Connections while only using one CPU Resource. Best regards J_Bell

What should you watch out for when configuring an unspecified S7 connection for data communication between an S7-300 and an S7-400? How do you configure an S7 connection for data communication between an S7-200 and an S7-300 or an S7-400 at the Industrial Ethernet? Best regards J_Bell
