CP343-5 restriction with CPU 319-3???

Please find below a description about the existing system:
- S5 115U CPU with CP5431 card..working as FMS Master
- Therearealso some S5 PLC with CP5431 card andthey are working as a slave
- There are also some other FMS slave components (valves, some other Wöhrle terminals) hangingon this system (SINEC L2 FMS).

My task is to connect the S7 CPU (CPU319-3) to the FMS master S5 CPU and gain/put some data (app.10-15 words).
I thought that the easiest way would be isto put a CP343-5 CP card into the S7 system and establish the communication via FMS.

What is your oppinion? Is it a good idea? How can I manageit?
Do you have any sample project concerning with the FMS communication between the S7 and S5 system?

Do you have any other idea for this signal exchange?

Shall I use the idea you mentiond below in this case?????

If the functionality of the CP 343-5 for operation with CPU 318-2 completely released?

ANTWORT:
No. The FMS client functions of the CP343-5 (6GK7 343-5FA00-0XE0) for operation with the CPU 318-2 are not released.
The reason for the function restriction is that there is message loss and data inconsistency with long data structures.
The FMS client functions include:
IDENTIFY
READ
STATUS
WRITE

The following functions of the CP 343-5 are released for operation with the CPU 318-2:

• FMS server functions
• S7 communication
• S5-compatible communication (Send/Receive)
• PG functions (including Routing

In a competitive market if you are unsure about the communication just pick up the phone and call Siemens rep/distributor andask them to show you a demo/proof of concept at your siteofcommunicating between S5-S7 on FMS.
I am sure they will do whatever it takes to getyour business.

PS. I will go ahead, I think itworks with your design 319 & 343-5 FMS talking with 5431 FMS.

I am very sorry for interrupting your conversation... but I think the major question is, is the CP 343-5 released for the CPU 319-3?

I think the answer is yes.... BUT you have to use the latest CP 343-5 (Order# 6GK7343-5FA01-0XE0) The FA00 Version had restrictions, the latest one does not.

So... go ahead and use FMS. I know that there are several Measurement devices that work as FMS Slave.

I havent bought any components yet. Not even the S7 CPU (319-3). That's why I asked the compatibility of this CPU.

The fact:
At this moment there is an FMS communication between the S5 CPU.
My task is to get/put some information fro this system with S7 CPU.

For me there is no problem to use Profibus FDL or even FMS. The most important thing is to make this system ready till the begining of the next year.
So my hands are not tight with the FMS communication.

What do you thing, can I use the Profibus FDL communication on this network simultaneously with the FMS one? Can this 2 protocol working at the same time?

What can you suggest to use?I want to use the easiest one!

Anyway I found some information about the FMS communication between S5 and S7..
