CP443-1(1EX11) with firmware version 2.7.3 non-functional in 400F/H System

fups Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Weareusing following 3 types of CPU in our PLC System in operation. 1) CPU416-2 2) CPU414-3 3) S7-400F/H with CPU417-4 (6ES7 417-4HL04-0AB0 with firmware version 4.0.4) All this are configured through Simatic Manager V5.3 SP3. The ethernet communication is established through 6GK7 443-1EX11-0XE0(firmware V2.6.7). The Hardware configuration for all PLCs are made with CP443-1 firmware version V2.5 as V2.6 is not available in HW catalog of Simatic Manager V5.3 SP3. Recently we upgraded all Ethernet CPs to version 2.7.3 without any change in HW configuration of PLCs. The PLCs with CPU 416-2 and CPU414-3 are running without any problems. S7-400F/H system stopped communicating after installtion of Ethernet CPs with V2.7.3. The diagnostic buffer read through MPI does not show any fault but we are not able to ping this CPs. The status in the send jobs show w#16#7000. We hade to put back the old CPs(V2.6.7) to commence operation. Can somebody please advise how can we possibly do an upgrade of Ethernet CPs to V2.7.3 for S7 400F/H system? I also do not understand why the upgraded CPs are working finewith other CPUs. Can upgrading of CPU 417-4 firmware help in this regard? Please advise.

fups Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	CPU417-4 (6ES7 417-4HL04-0AB0) firmware upgraded to V 4.0.11. Still the problem persist. The CPs with firmware 2.7.3 do not communicate in the H-system. No entries in the diagnostic buffer and no fault reported. Faiyaz Pawaney Siemens Dematic (ME) LLC

fups Posts: 5 Rating: (0)	Simatic Manager upgraded to Step7 V5.4SP5 so that CP443-1(!EX11) could be updated in HW configuration to V2.6. Also AG_LSEND and AG_LRECV was updated to V3.0. Still the problem persist. CP443-1(1EX11) with firmware version 2.7.3 is non-functional in 400F/H System.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Fups, I just talked to one of the specialists about this CP and he told me that there are no functional differences between the V 2.6.7 and the V 2.7.3 of the Firmware, this is also the reason why there is no entry in STEP7 about it. The only difference is that incertain cases additional service information’s have been needed at certain points and this feature has been added to this, the latest, Firmware. The mentioned situations do not happen the way you mention... so you do not need these diagnostics features. So there is no reason to update the Firmware at the H System you use. Even so neither me nor the specialist I talked to has any idea why the CP behaves the way you mentioned. I would say keep the running system, the CP does not need to be updated. Best regards J_Bell
