CP443 card version

WMC Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	We have the following CPUs in our plant, 6ES7 416-2XK02-0AB0 (V3.0 & V3.1)and 6ES7 416-2XL01-0AB0.(Version not available) These CPUs and HMIs are interconnected via MPI network. Now we want to change over to industrial ethernet for better speed and future expansion. The CP card as suggested by local system house is 6GK7443-1EX20-0XE0. But when I try to insert the card in HW configuration, then message comes that the CPU does not support this card. Do we need any other version of CP card ? Kindly help.

Your CPU isn't very new 6ES7416-2XK02-0AB0SIMATIC S7-400, CPU 416-2 The CP is much newer 6GK7443-1EX20-0XE0 COMMUNICATION PROCESSOR CP 443-1 Looking at the document how to migrate from the former version of the CP to the newer one What should you watch out for when changing from previous modules to the successor module CP443-1 (6GK7 443-1EX20-0XE0) or CP443-1 Advanced (6GK7 443-1GX20-0XE0)? J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear WMC, I am really sorry but it is true, the EX 20 CP you have been recommended to require a CPU with Firmware V 4.1 and higher. The CPUs you have do not offer such an option. Due to this you require predecessors of this CP. I have checked the manuals and found in this manual: Manual Part B4S CP 443-1 that the CP 443-1 EX 11 supports your CPUs. I hope you will be able to get these at your distributor. Best regards J_Bell

WMC Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Thanks. But it is really difficult as CP443-1EX11 is not available any more. Only if we could upgrade the firmware of the CPUs to V4.1, but that is also I think not possible. I think we have no other option than to upgrade the CPUs ?
