CP544 program.

S5115U PLC with CPU945 without Flash EPROM CP544 – 2Nos. without Flash EPROM (both the cards have 2 interface each and they are used for connecting 4 devices) The system was off for more than 8 months and the program in the CPU is lost. Also in the CP544. We have loaded the backup available with the customer in the CPU and it is going in RUN mode. Customer is not having any backup for CP544. The LED indication on both CPs is as below. Switch position – RUN mode. RUN LED – ON (steady) TXD1 LED – ON red TXD2 LED – ON red Customer says that the OEM has informed them, by loading the CPU backup; the CP544 will also get parameterized. Is this possible? In the PLC program we find FB 81, 82, 83 related to CP544, but could not understand the function of it. These are called in FB100 and FB100 is called only in the startup OB 21 & OB22. Please find attached the program and please tell us if these blocks are for parameterising the CP544. What we would like to know is CP544 backup is required to run the system or not.

Hi First of all you need to synhronized the cp544 and cpu. But maybe this is done in your system. OB21, and OB22 is for that. My advice is to add and OB20. After this synhronized you need COM PP parameterization software, installed on PG with step 5. With this software you will make CP 544 Parameter Sets. And if is done correctly your programm must work. Maybe this FBs is for communication. You can read more: SIMATIC S5 Manual CP 544 regards

However it is possible to automatically parameterise CP-544 through SEND DIRECT Job # 189 triggered from the CPU. This transfers the parameters stored in a DB in CPU to CP544. You may see Section 6.3.8 of CP544 manual for more details

There fore the datablock have to be right filled in and from the start (OB2x)there have to be a trigger for the SEND DIRECT 189 that is positioned in the cyclic programm (OB1).
