CPU-1512SP: Insufficient memory on the memory card

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem, but I'm using an CPU-1512SP-1 PN.

It happened to me as well couple of times, on same project though, once I checked inside online&diagnostic Card usage was a little bit above the 50%.

Temporary solution was to do either memory reset or factory reset. Once that has been done I was again been able to do download. Later I decided once my calculated usage in offline mode is above 50% Im rather going with bigger Card. They are quite cheap for ET200SP CPU at least.

Other things what you can do is check inside program resources which FBs, taking the most of the Card. Recheck logica little bit, make sure you have optimize data block check, try to reduce number of IEC timers using classic Simatic s5Time Timer instead, using Usint data type instead of 2 byte data type helps on bigger scale as well, in worst case scenario change the Card. From the screenshot it looks like you are using 4MB Card which is I believe the smallest one. 

When you get that warning that memory card is too small. You can still download the changes, if you put the PLC in STOP mode.

The project doesn't need to be very big, and the 4Mb memory card is full.
