CPU 313-2dp Max Number of DP Slaves On Network

Info1 Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	Hi, I noticed in the simatic manual it says the max no. of DP slaves is 8 for the above DP port. I want to use20 313-2dp PLCs as Intelligent Slaves communicating to a DCS master(DeltaV). Does this mean I cannot have more than 8 intelligent slaves on a network? Regards, TS

Regards, TS Hello TS; Can I ask where you have seen that limitation in the manuals? Is it possible you are looking at data for "connections", which is a different matter (Profibus occupies 1 connection per interface, no matter how many slaves are connected)? All S7 Profibus-DP masters support the full extent of Profibus caracteristics, including a maximum number of 123 slaves on Profibus-DP. In any case, if you plan to use the S7 CPUs as slaves on the network, it would be the master's capacity thatis at stake here; and DeltaV supports full Profibus standards, as far as I know.
