The ACS 550 uses a RPBA Profibus option board, the ACS M1 requires a FPBA Profibus adapter.

Both set a reverse direction command by replacing the positive speed reference into a negative speed reference:

References are 16-bit words containing a sign bit and a 15-bit integer. A negative reference (indicating reversed direction of rotation) is formed by calculating the twoís complement from the corresponding positive reference.

References (FBA REF) are 16/32-bit signed integers. A negative reference (indicating reversed direction of rotation) is formed by calculating the two’s complement from the corresponding positive reference value. The contents of each reference word can be used as torque or speed reference.
