CPU-414-4H and CP-443-1 in a redundant system

guileser Experienced Member Joined: 12/2/2008 Last visit: 12/11/2024 Posts: 107 Rating: (2)	Hi all, Our Redundant System consists of : 1) 2 x CPU 414-4H ( Ref: 414-4HM14-0AB0) -> Ver. 4.5.2 2) 2x DO32x24V ( Ref: 422-7BL00-0AB0) 3) 2X CP443-1 ( Ref: 443-1GX20-0XE0) -> Ver. 2.0 4) We are using a TCP/IP normal Card to stablish the communication CPU-CP The problems is the communication to the CPs. Using NCM S7,I can put on line with one of CPs but I can not with the another one. Thanks in advanced

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, please help me to understand some more. How did you configure your system? Did you use 2 or 1 Ethernet Network? Do the CP’s use the same or different IP Addresses? If you use one Ethernet with both CP’s connected to, could you do a Ping to both IP Addresses? You mentioned that you try to connect to both CP’s, how do you do that? Do you use S7-Communication with e.g. STEP 7 or do you use your IP Socket program? What is it that is not working than, the connection establishment or the data transfer? Do you see any error messages at your PC or within STEP 7? This is just to help me to understand some more. I presume this structure could be possible. Currenly,We only have configured the H Simatic Device I mean CPUs and CP but not the rest of devices(PCs).Now, before connecting PCs with a Wincc Project ,I am trying to do some test to check that CPs work ok. For test, I am using a laptop with one normal TCP/IP network card ( NO a CP1613). - I am using just one TCP/IP cable for the test.Firstly I connect to a CP and after to the another one. - Every CP has its own IP. - Ping to both CPs. They Both answer. - Using IE browser and Writting each IP. They both show its information - Using Diagnostics NCM S7. Now,Everything OK. - If a small program(Step7) is running on CPUs(S7400). Now,Everything OK. Now, After having got all test my new questions are: - Could a normal TCP/IP card plug on a PC instead of a CP1613 for a redundat system? - How many TCP/IP cards should it be plugged on a PC for a redundant system. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I guess I see your problem. Well, to tell you the truth redundant Ethernet Connections on the S7 are only supported with one or two CP 1613with S7-Redconnect. A redundant connection with a "standard NIC" is not supported at all as far as I know. So as far as I see your structure you need for each PC: 1 x CP 1613 1 x S7-Redconnect. This will run as soon as you configure redundant S7-Connections. All other protocols are not supported by the redundancy switchover of the CPU. So if you plan on doing TCP/IP or UDP/IP or... you will have to take care about the logical switchover in the PC and the PLC. As said the only package that supports redundancy switchover is, as far as I know, S7-Redconnect. Best regards J_Bell
