CPU 417-5H PN/DP - not all blocks executed after normal download

Hi All,

I have issues in my Step7 CFC K8.1.1.2 application.

I'm working on an application for months, and I successfully tested this part of my program.

Two weeks ago I upscaled the program to another 8 charts containing pretty much the same logic.

After I increased my program, It seems that some charts are not executed. All runtime groups are located in OB35, and i suspect scan time seems to overrun. (but program doesn't feel big)

I see red exclamation marks on the yellow F-blocks. If i delete half the project, it all works fine again.

I tried to put all runtime groups in OB32, (1sec cycle) but this didn't change anything.

(application is not that time critical, just needs to run all). see attachments for additional info.

Any thoughts or help is highly appreciated

Maybe check SIMATIC Process Control System PCS 7 CFC for SIMATIC S7 (V8.1) , under chapter "9.10.9 Display of block execution".

The CFC Compilation Log probably also contain important information!

I read the manual you linked.

The blocks are not executed. the module information in PLCSIM indicates : shutdown of a F-runtime group.

The attached log gives some more information. But it does compile without errors.

I'll investigate some more tomorrow.

HOW:
I have added parts to the program step by step until I got OB80 errors meaning my scantime is overrun.

If i load OB80 and continue addidng the logic, I get errors F_CYC_CO / F_PLK that shutdown my failsafe runtime program.    (what off course is only for test because I do not want OB80 errors or worse.)  

CLEAR PROBLEM:  To much logics scheduled in OB35.

Possible solution can be to move parts of my program to other cyclic OBs, but than I need to use interface blocks between the runtime groups which is not prefered. I didn't try this.

SOLUTION:

1. Improve / strip code.

2. Changed all standard runtime groups to Reduction factor 2     (5hz)

3. Changed half the runtime groups to phase offset 1

The above changes gave me enough performance to run at max 60ms. In PLCSIM

If anyone has some more improvement tips, Please let me know.

I will test my 417-5H next week, hope this one keeps up with the PLCSIM.

Ok, I've optimized runtime groups sequences, Improved timing, and have currently no more errors in "module information" or compilation. Safety blocks are correctly executed.

STILL A PROBLEM:

A self made FC (SCL) is called several times , Sometimes executed correctly, sometimes showing "0" on the output that cannot be a result other than not executed. Online/Offline compare shows equal.

I found others online with the same issues, can this be an attribute thing ??

PS: In PLCSIM all works fine ?!

Two blocks are somehow executed in the wrong order during the first startup scan.

This happend after the upscaling, (and not in PLCSIM).

Due to this a pointer operation within an FC is fed with DB0 as pointer value for 1 scan.

This situation messes up the memory used by the FC's that make them give spurious states.

Once I created input error trapping it worked like a charm.
