Do you have v13?

The detect function will need a TCP/IP connection to work, if the CPU doesn't have an IP address, there is no TCP/IP connection can be established, therefore it won't work. It is a guess, I have never tried detect an out of box CPU.... Usab

jc2605 Advanced Member Joined: 2/7/2012 Last visit: 2/7/2025 Posts: 54 Rating: (7)	Since TIA V10.5 came out, I have found numerous reasons, some of which I cannot explain, that we cannot communicate with a plc. You state that the PLC is new out of the box so I'm assuming that it has never been programmed. First, verify if it is a version 4 cpu. If so, you must use TIA V13 to communicate with it. We use a standard group of IP addresses for every system we manufacture, 192.168.0.xxx. Make sure that your pc IP address is set to the correct IP group range in Network Connections. For a first time download, do not try to connect through a switch, plug directly into slot "X1". In the Download to Device dialog box settings are: Type of PG/PC Interface: PN/IE PG/PC Interface: select your network card Connection to subnet: Direct at slot "1 X1" If using V11 or V12, check the box for "Show all compatible devices" when it becomes available. In V13, this box is checked automaticly. Sometimes, after completing all of the above, it still will not connect to the PLC. This is where the fun starts. Turn off any firewalls. On one of our computers, we have to disable the wireless card for it to connect. I don't know why that works, it just does. If you still cannot connect, then I would have to play with it to figure out why it isn't working. The items I've discussed above are the most common problems that I've found. Hope it helps.
