CPU in Stop Mode

Kiren Posts: 33 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am using S7-414 CPU ...1 weeks back due to sudden power ON/Off, CPU went to Stop mode then I simply made it stop and run it again then it was running OK. But, At present I am getting ths same fault even power is OK. I mean simply CPU goes in stop mode. Then again I have to restart the CPU and it works..This happen once in 2 days now..when CPU, is in stop mode, I could check that all other slaves are OK when CPU is in stop mode.. it is having 2 batteries and it is giving 1 battery failt all the time but it works without issues.. I want to know aht can be the reason for CPU to go into stop mode simply without reason..what else should i check ? Thank you Kiren

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	Take a look at your diagnostics it should give you a reason for the stop mode .If your need further help please upload the diagnostic here and someone should be able to help

dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/14/2024 Posts: 12294 Rating: (2691)	Hello Kiren; The S7-400 CPUs will tell you in "plain" language what issues they have through the diagnostic buffer, but that does require Step 7 and a programming console at site (and someone whoi knows how to yuse them). The CPUs also use the diagnostic LEDs on the front of the modules to indicate the general area of the problem. Diagnostic LEDs of the S7-400 CPUsand their interpretation are descibed here, in chapter 2: SIMATIC S7-400 S7-400 Automation System, CPU Specifications If you have a BATF LED active I can only suggest you change the present batteries in yous power supply module (without removing power to the CPU, this would erase the RAM memory). The procedure is described in the Hardware manual of the S7-400, chapters 7.1 (and 6.8 if the batteries need depassivation): Automation System S7-400 Hardware and Installation Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

ErAbhishek Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	Kiren, hello The same problem i too had once in my plant. and there i found that i dont know how but 2 pins on back plane bus was BEND and came out a bit from the back plane. So you can also ask your people to check if all the pins on back plane bus are ok or not. and 1 more thing be careful while removing and putting back the I/P and O/P cards. Try to some of the steps as under. 1. Remove all the I/P and O/P cards and keep the PLC power supply and CPU on back plane bus. 2. now switch on the power supply and see the status of CPU. if its is ok, then try to do the same procedure by inserting 1 card and then checking the status and then after another card.. 1 by one and step by step. hopefully some card or the back plane bus may be faulty. good luck.

Kiren Posts: 33 Rating: (0)	Dear ALL, I am on site now and i could see that while in stop mode CPU shows INTF (internal fault)...I thought either CPU or program !! So, i was thinking that anyway CPU must be OK as this problem comes once in 2 days...So, I have downloadedfresh program (Back up)..and kept in observation...Now next time again in 2-3 days , i fi don't see this problem again then problem was with program only.. I have attched the screens shots of diagnosis (lot many shots)..Please advise if you can guide me little after looking at scree shots...Even in diagnosis, it shows that issues was with some FC 854 and OB21..So, i thought it can be issue with Program only..
