CPU314C-2DP count module

Raffy Posts: 209 Rating: (2)	Hi Everyone, I would like to ask about the hardware connections for CPU 314C-2DP built in count module... Can someone teach me what are the possible connections for the count module in the CPU??and where should I connect it?? The application I would want is to measure the rpm of a shaft using a gear tooth sensor then using the available built in count module in the cpu 314c-2dp to measure the pulses generated by the gear tooth sensor... I think there is a manual for about the technological functions of the CPU but I can't seem to find it... Anyway hope you could help me guys, Best regards, Raffy

Raffy Posts: 209 Rating: (2)	Hi Ste39, Now I have decide to use the frequency measuremnt parameter on computing the RPM of my device, but may I ask about the physical connections on this matter.. because I'm using a gear tooth sensor....so where would I put the Output signal of my sensor and its ground on the CPU314C-2DP.??? Raffy Posts: 209 Rating: (2)	Thanks Ste39, So in my own understanding I would connect the output to Pin 2 or address DI +0.0.... then place the ground on M....what about the direction bit Pin3 DI + 0.1??do I need to connect something to it?? how about in HW config in the "signal evaluation" is it correct that I would choose the option of Pulse/direction or rotary encoder??

However, the direction input must be at a defined level or not switched, so that no change in direction of rotation can be established. Configuring the "Signal evaluation:" parameter in 31xC CPUs using the technological function "Count"

vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 8/15/2024 Posts: 711 Rating: (30)	Hi, the 3rd input is hardware gate. once you enable it in hardware configuration, both sw_gate and hardware gate input should be high for the counting action. if any of gate is low, counting will not happen. in your case, check the count for 1 rotation of shaft. by using the comarison option, you can generate pulse output for preseted values. check number of rotation/minute and calculate rpm. regards Vipz
