CPU928 replacement

And I have another client who has a healthy CPU (6ES5 928-3UA12). I know that it is not the sucessor. My question is Can I replace the faulty one by the healty one? If yes, Will I need to modify any thing in the software?

What it depends on is listed in the FAQ below and it will require evaluation of the S5 program: Replacing a CPU 928A with a CPU 928B (or vice versa) For completeness, the manuals for both CPU's are linked below: 928A Programming Guide manual 928B Programming Guide manual I hope this helps
