Create GSD File in Scout for S7-1200

I do not think I would commission the S7-1200 with CU310-2PN with scout.  I would use Starter for the drive side, portal for the PLC / drive with telegram configured in both to suit your needs.

The GSD for the CU310-2 PN is found on the Siemens support site as a hardware support pack, or it may already be installed with the version you are using.

Much simpler and Siemens Support can help you via telephone.

This maybe in the wrong thread and if so I apologize.

I need help in creating a GSD file in a Scout project that I can use to import into my TIA Portal project for communications between a servo motor control (CU310-2PN) and the PLC (S7-1215F).

My coworker, who used to work for Siemens, is out on a startup and he created a GSD file for me to use, but in case there is issues at the customer site next week I am hoping that someone can point me down the right path on how to create a new one in case the one my coworker gave me doesn't work.

I have Scout and TIA Portal loaded on a virtual machine (unfortunate, but the only way I can get it since the host machine is Windows 10 to work).

I tried looking through the support website on how to do this but haven't had any luck in finding a procedure to do this.

If this can be found in a manual some place a link to the manual I can download would be awesome.

When I made my suggestion, it was not very clear.  Since you have a working solution, that is great.

What I do is create the telegram for most like I need in starter, then make it a custom telegram and add as many extra words as required to meet the needs, maybe even having a couple spare words for future expansion.

Then in portal, I create a telegram with the majority being like a standard telegram started with in starter, then add works to telegram in portal until they match.  Now it should start communicating once you download the hardware to the plc. 

Once thing I have to do every project I do like this:

1. Set the ip address in the drive using starter, or via portal.  Portal is easier if you have done no work in starter.

2. go online with the drive in starter, add to project, upload from drive, and then go offline.  rename the drive from the default so you can be sure it's the right one.  Download to drive.

3. While offline with portal, set the drive name you *really* want in the drive.

4. download hardware to PLC then Go online with the plc

5. Go to the drive in the project tree and go online / diagnostics with it.

6. Set the drive ip and name from within portal (be sure you are offline with starter).

7. Wait for the drive to appear in the portal project tree, then go online with starter and upload.

8. Now both are synchronized and you can use the telegram.  It should allow you to transfer data seamlessly between them. 

This is not how you do it when using startdrive.

Yes that is what I was looking for.  I was able to find it and got it to work, though not without a few misteps along the way, but got it to work.
