Creating a Switch that is synched with an On-Off text

Notakarmagun Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	This has got to be a very simple task but I somehow managed to fail at it. I have the switch (see attachment) from the library. It is a switch that is either turned on bright (and stays bright) or turned off dark (and stays dark). My problem is with how to indicate it with a text that when it is at On and Off states. I also tried to imitate this with a button and played around with the Events and Animations but failed again. What is the simplest way of handling this? Thanks! Gärchla Posts: 457 Rating: (46)	Hello, most simple, if you want to visualize a tag (On/Off), are two pictures (bmp/jpeg) containing graphic&text . Link them to a tag and with "Animations" you can hide/show these pictures. If you want to control this tag: use a pushbutton with graphic. Define graphic on and graphic off, use "Events" to change tag. Best regards Georg

Notakarmagun Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	That is exactly what I tried with the push button and used the graphics for the on/off states. The problem I am facing is that, when I click on the button, I want it to stay on with the text saying on. If I click again it should be turned off with the text saying off (as attached now). I know I am missing something simple but couldn't figure it out even after trying a long time. Attachment ON.png (225 Downloads)

But let us assume you wish to keep the graphics in the switch as is. See if this do what you wish it to.. 1. Create a text lists with 0 = OFF and 1 = ON. 2. Add a "symbolic I/O field". Place object in higher number layer as switch. 3. "symbolic I/O field" parameters.. * process variable as internal tag manipulated by switch's events (much like shown in your 1st attachment.. boolean variable is okay.) * mode as OUTPUT only * contents as newly created (1) text list . * text background as invisible * other attributes as needed. w

The only problem is that, if I have the input field over the pushbutton switch, i need to avoid clicking on the field since it doesn't respond. So I can have the text on anywhere but the switch.

But why would you have an input field on top of the On/Off button? You only click the buttons to toggle a bit on/off. If you need to input something, you put it an input field somewhere else (above, beneath, to the left or to the right).

Notakarmagun Posts: 15 Rating: (0)	Oh it is an output field in this case of course. It just indicates that the button is pressed and afterwards, lets say "the local mode" is on. When it is pressed again the text indicates that it is off. I just tried to find a way to have it over the button as I shared the screenshots above.

One with the off button (and the off text) and another with the on button (and the on text). The on/off text is just whatever text you decide to have instead of "On" and "Off".
