Creating an operating system update card for CPU 315-2DP

Marqim Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	Dear, I try to update an operating system for CPU 315-2DP [6ES7 315-2AG10-0AB0] using MMC in accordance with FAQ Operating System Updates for CPU 315-2DP. Original version - 2.0.11, target version - 2.6.11. All requirement are met: Micro Memory Card with4 MB storage capacity /Order no. 6ES7 953-8LM20-0AA0; STEP 7 V5.4 + SP3; SIMATIC FieldPG M2 with internalprogramming device interfacefor programming the Memory Card. I delete content of MMC [File->S7 Memory Card->Delete], start update procedure [PLC->Update the operating system...], select an CPU_HD.UPD file and start update process. Immediately fail happens: Update the Operating System (33:279) / The block/op. sys. update is too large. Why does this failure happen and how is it possible to fixit?

miami Platinum Expert Joined: 8/31/2005 Last visit: 8/20/2024 Posts: 2198 Rating: (328)	I used a older 4 MB MMC (6ES7 953-8LM11-0AA0) and STEP 7 V5.5 SP1 and I could program the MMC in the USB prommer. Please try to execute "File, S7 Memory Card, delete" and then try again. If you have an other MMC with 4 MB (or more) try to use it. Maybe you need a8 MB MMC.

Marqim Posts: 13 Rating: (1)	miami, thanks for answer. I recently received another MMC card of the same type (6ES7 953-8LM20-0AA0, 4 MB). Creating an operating system update card is completed successfully for this card. Maybe first MMChas defect, whichappearsincreating an operating system update card only.
