I have used a UDT type in my PLC programming and want to use it in my HMI. When I create a tag and link it to the PLC, I encounter errors. here is the picture of errors:

Hi,

CPU S7-300/400 does not supports symbolic addressing.

If you want use Udt in HMI for accesig tags in PLC then you have to create same Udt structure in HMI Library.

Have you done compile- Software (Rebuild All)

1.Create UDT in PLC

2.Call UTD in PLC database

3.Create Same UDT in HMI Project Library.

4.Communication Driver S7 300/400.

5.Create Tag in HMI

Is there any approach for using PLC data type as a HMI data type? My PLC UDT is going to change.

Moreover, in HMI UDT, It is not possible to use struct type. What should I do?

CPU S7-300/400 does not supports symbolic addressing.

If you want use Udt in HMI for accesig tags in PLC then you have to create same Udt structure in HMI Library.

In case of S7 300 PLC if you are accessing absolute Tags with HMI udt and if you have modified PLC Udt then automatic synchronization is not possible.You need manually edit and need to create new version for same HMI Udt .

In case of S7 1500 it is possible to create HMI tags with Symbolic access with using PLC udt.and If you update S7 1500 PLC udt it will get automatically update at  HMI side (Compile rebuild all)

If you are you using Structure in S7 300 side then you need take special care as it is not possible to create structure in HMI Udt or Call different HMI Udt instance in other HMI Udt.

Create tags in HMI udt as per length of Structure.If tag length (e.g number bytes) used in actual structure is more the put some dummy tags so that length of structure is equal to length of Hmi Udt Tag.So that PLC udt and HMI udt Offset get match.
