CU305 Firmware downgrade

Customer has one machine with two CU305 connected to a Simotion. All was done with Scout 4.3 and customer has installed on his PC Scout 4.3 with WinccFlex 2008. So no Starter is installed. One day one CU was damaged and he bought a new one, obviously unprogrammed. He said to remotely connect and reprogram it. But the strange thing is this : I "see" it online using the Ethernet node browsing (yes, we are in PN, no DP) and I can assign IP and PN name. I can also restore the factory defaults (but this is not particularly interesting). Problem is I cannot go online, it says (translated from Italian) that the connection is impossible since the device is not compatible. By browsing, in Scout, all the nodes he sees the Sinamics but cannot give any information about the firmware installed on it (?!?!? why ?!?!?), so technically it is impossible to program this CU305. We do not have any memory card for the CU305 and we don't have any BOP. Just a PC with Scout 4.3 installed, and nothing else. In the CU there is written that its firmware is V04.40.45.00, so I guess (and hope) this is the reason I cannot do anything with my Scout 4.3. Also downloading and installing Starter 4.4 is impossible since it is not compatible with Scout 4.3 (it says that very clearly , at the beginning of instalation). Since customer has windows XP, maybe if I install Starter 4.3 ? I can work with V04.40.45.00 ? Question 1: how can I solve this problem ? How can I access to the CU305 so I can reprogram it ? Question 2: If it is a mismatch firmware version, ok, WHY the Scout doesn't just say "hey, my friend, you cannot go online because it's another firmware !!" instead of saying that the model is "uncompatible" (like I attached an Iphone, haha) ? ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 10/2/2024 Posts: 22388 Rating: (3015)	Hi, S110 V04.40.45.00 is the V4.4 SP3 FW for the SINAMICS S110 CU305 and not supported in Scout/Starter V4.3. A SSP is available for SCOUT/Starter V4.4 but not for V4.3. In this case you can only downgrade the CU305 with a memory card (MMC/SD), for S110 you need no special Siemens Card, a normal SD/MMC Card should be work. Scout can't work or identify newer Device Versions so you can only get the message "not compatible" Regards Christoph

Just one question, since I have never done this. Ok, consider I can have one MMC/SD card, how can I put the firmware on it ? Which tool I have to use ? Where is the firmware I can "copy" on it ? ChristophD Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 10/2/2024 Posts: 22388 Rating: (3015)	Hi, you can download the S110 V4.4 HF22 FW Files from here: https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/48733320 After download extract the FW Zip Archve to the Root of the SD/MMC Card, the SD/MMC should be formated wit FAT File System. You need no special Tools or Programs for that only Windows Explorer and unzip program Then Power off the S110 insert the card and power on, after update is done power off again and remove the card. I have a problem, practically identical, with another CU305. My software runs under Scout 4.3 environment and has one D410-2 and two CU305s. One CU305 is damaged and customer (which is far from my office) asked to have a new one. So I took a new CU305 and tried to download the software. CU was not possible to communicate: in the accessible nodes I see it but I cannot do nothing (except pinging and changing IP address). So I took my SD card (of Siemens) with firmware 4.4 Hf 22 and inserted it... Waited 25 minutes and the result is that CU is unresponsive (see the image, RDY led is fix Orange, nothing blinks): she shows the same leds forever... If I take the firmware 4.4 SP3 then the CU workds for 15 minutes and the new firmware is loaded... But I must have the Starter 4.4 SP1... So it's useless for me that firmware :(. Again I reinsert the SD card with formware 4.4 hf22, cpu seems to remake the firmware ( I see the leds blinking, changing, etc...) but after 20 minutes the situation is, again, the one shown in the attached picture...
